Will I struggle to find a car with an automatic licence?
Not at all! With the rise of hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as a general market shift, automatic cars are becoming the norm in the UK, and you will have no problem finding a vehicle to suit you.
Is it easier to learn in an automatic car?
Many learners find it easier to learn in an automatic car as there's less to worry about and a lower learning curve when you first enter the vehicle.
For example, as you don't have to change gears, you don't need to worry about how many revs you're applying or stalling from a starting position – Two common fears for new drivers.
Can I drive a manual car if I pass my test in an automatic?
No, if you pass your driving test in an automatic car, you will only be able to drive automatic vehicles.
Are automatic lessons suitable for anxious or older learners?
Anxious and older learners find automatic lessons much more manageable for a variety of reasons.
From anxious learners not having to worry about stalling the car / changing gears, to older learners not needing to use their legs to depress the clutch regularly, whatever your reason for wanting to start automatic lessons, we're ready to help!
Can I switch from automatic to manual later?
Yes, you'll be able to switch your licence later on if you need to. However, you'd need to retake your practical driving test in a manual car.
Will my driving licence be different to my friends?
The only difference in an automatic / manual driving licence is the code on the back of the licence.
More importantly, there's nothing to be embarrassed about when you hold an automatic licence. There are plenty of reasons people don't go for a manual licence and no matter whether it's a manual or auto car you're driving, they all get you to your destination!
